Mitsui Appoint ELS to Enhance Commercial Capability on Landmark Carbon Capture and Storage Study

PERTH, AUSTRALIA - June 27, 2023 - Equity Lifting Solutions (ELS), a leading consultancy firm specialising in the energy sector, is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Mitsui E&P Australia to contribute its commercial expertise to the joint feasibility study on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) with Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC).

This collaboration firmly positions Equity Lifting Solutions as a strategic service provider in the pursuit of lower-carbon intensity energy production methods, aligning with both companies commitment to sustainable development and climate change mitigation.

Mitsui, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Ltd (MEPAU), is currently developing the Waitsia gas field in the Mid West region of Western Australia on which ELS has been involved since 2019. In addition, MEPAU holds significant interests in nearby depleted gas fields in the Perth Basin. These ventures lay the groundwork for the potential production and export of low carbon ammonia, bolstering the economic and environmental value of their operations.

ELS will assist Mitsui to explore the commercial viability of storing the associated CO2 from this process in the depleted gas fields, a strategy that aligns with Mitsui's broader commitment to environmental responsibility and climate change mitigation.
